About this stay
We are a 'Kyomachiya' ryokan. We are a newly built small inn that faithfully reproduces a typical Kyoto house (Kyo-machiya) from approximately 100 years ago. The tatami rooms, the vaulted lobby and the courtyard, which cannot be seen from the outside, are traditional Kyoto architecture, which is now rare, but everything is 100 years old in size, so the doors are low and the rooms are small (and the rooms are even smaller because we have installed modern showers and toilets in the small rooms). Unlike most large Japanese ryokans, we do not serve dinner, have no indoor onsen, no soft beds or lifts. Our location is in a residential area, not a tourist area.
